Word on Fire Publishing today announced the April 27 publication of An Ocean Full of Angels, a novel by philosopher and bestselling author Peter Kreeft. The book will serve as the inaugural title in the spring catalogue for Luminor, Word on Fire Publishing’s literary imprint dedicated to novels, short stories, poetry, criticism, and creative nonfiction.

Luminor will highlight fresh literary voices formed by the Catholic imagination while also recovering overlooked writers whose work reflects the richness of the Catholic intellectual and artistic tradition.

The imprint seeks to illuminate the Catholic vision of life for serious readers of any faith or none, expanding perception within the complex, unpredictable, and irreducible drama of human experience.

“This imprint is born from a conviction that great literature helps us to see reality more clearly,” said Katy Carl, editor of the Luminor imprint. “Luminor will publish works that are fearless in craft and imagination and that illuminate the drama of humanity: original goodness, sin, grace, suffering, beauty, and redemption.”

Each year, Luminor will publish a select number of titles that embody what the philosopher Jacques Maritain called “art with all its teeth,” literary works rigorous in craft and bold in expression that aspire to be as lasting, absorbing, and ennobling as anything in the global literary tradition.

Several additional titles are already scheduled for Luminor’s inaugural publishing season.

More than a Matter of Taste by Joshua Hren, a study exploring the role of moral imagination in literary reading, will be released on May 11, 2026.

Wonder + Shame, the debut novel by Gregory M. Orfalea, will follow on June 15, 2026.

The fall season will feature Sally Read’s The Secrets to Reading Poetry: Unlocking the Language of God, an accessible guide designed to introduce adult readers to the beauty and meaning of poetry.

In addition to publishing new titles, Luminor will welcome manuscript submissions of original, previously unpublished fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction, including memoir and literary essays.
