Friends, I’ve recently tuned in to Mrs. Davis, a new TV series on Peacock that has quickly become my favorite show. The leading character is a committed religious sister named Sr. Simone (played by Betty Gilpin), who manages to save the world from a powerful algorithm, an artificial intelligence that basically knows all. The show is not interested in theological precision, but there is a spiritual motif at the heart of it, and it has to do with idolatry.
