Help us share evangelization materials with those most in need of God’s love and mercy.
Works of Mercy Fund
One year ago, Word on Fire launched the Works of Mercy Fund to donate books, films, and other Word on Fire materials to those who could most benefit from them. Your support is spreading our content to hospitals, schools, prisons, military members, parishes, libraries, and other communities to reach those on both the social and existential margins.
In 2025, these funds have allowed us to create a much-needed prayer booklet containing the basic Catholic prayers. This is a handy, 32-page pocket-size brochure with full-color sacred art depictions that serves both as a teaching tool and a source of comfort for people in spiritual need.
In gratitude for your gift of $50 or more, we will send you a copy of this booklet created for our Works of Mercy Fund recipients so that you can be united with them in prayer.
With a gift of $100 or more, we will send you five additional copies so that you, too, can share these prayers with others who might need them. And for $250, we will send you 10 booklets for you to join us in evangelizing even more people.

This new prayer booklet will be a great reminder of the power of prayer to those who need God’s love and mercy. Thank you for your support!
Please note that we cannot direct individual donations toward specific organizations or communities. Donations to this campaign will further Word on Fire’s evangelization activities as deemed appropriate by our organization and every contribution will be used in the most effective way possible. Thank you for your support!
If you represent a parish, diocese, or non-profit organization within the United States that could benefit from the Works of Mercy Fund, please reach out to us at [email protected]. We may not be able to accommodate all requests. We cannot ship free supplies internationally.
Dorothy Day once said that everything a baptized Christian does should be—either directly or indirectly—related to the corporal and spiritual works of mercy.
The Works of Mercy Fund is inspired by these Christian acts of mercy that everyone should incorporate into their spiritual and moral lives.
The corporal works of mercy are:
feeding the hungry
giving drink to the thirsty
giving alms to the poor
sheltering the homeless
visiting the prisoners
visiting the sick
burying the dead
The spiritual works of mercy are:
counseling the doubtful
instructing the ignorant
admonishing the sinner
bearing wrongs patiently
comforting the sorrowful
forgiving injuries
praying for the living and the dead.
“Our patients, staff, and Eucharistic Minister volunteers have greatly benefited from your generosity. These resources have made a significant impact on our patients and their families during their time with us. Many patients have expressed to me how much the teachings and reflections helped them reconnect with their faith or explore deeper aspects of spirituality during their hospital stay.”
Laura Zappala, Catholic chaplain at Lawrence General Hospital in Massachusetts
Living out the Works of Mercy
In two recent episodes of the Word on Fire Show, Bishop Barron explained how the corporal and spiritual works of mercy can serve as a perfect blueprint for living a life of holiness.
Watch the episodes below to learn how you can use the works of mercy as an examination of conscience and please consider making a gift toward the Works of Mercy Fund.
