Professor of Theology

Richard G. DeClue, Jr., S.Th.D. is Professor of Theology at the Word on Fire Institute, where he leads the Theology for Evangelists Community. In addition to his undergraduate degree in theology (Belmont Abbey College), he earned three graduate degrees in theology at the Catholic University of America (S.T.B., S.T.L., and S.Th.D.). He specializes in systematic theology with particular expertise in the thought of Joseph Ratzinger/Pope Benedict XVI. Dr. DeClue has published articles in multiple peer-reviewed journals and presented at several academic conferences. He is the author of The Mind of Benedict XVI: A Theology of Communion (Word on Fire, 2024). His areas of interest include eucharistic ecclesiology, the teaching of the Second Vatican Council, and developing a rapprochement between Communio (ressourcement) theology and scholasticism.
