Jacob “Jake” Heidel serves as Director of Music, Organist, and Sacristan for Saint Mary of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Chicago, Illinois. He is a native of Wisconsin and the oldest of five children. He is an avid scuba diver, cyclist, dog lover, John Denver fan, and amateur auto mechanic and organ technician. Aside from serving as organist for several parishes and a national shrine during his 15-years of ministry in the Roman Catholic Church, Jake has also served his community as a Corrections Officer with a Sheriff’s Department and chaplain for a hospital. Jake’s favorite prayer is the Memorare of Our Lady. He has a strong devotion and friendship to the Infant Child of Prague, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, St. Barbara, and Venerable Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen. He thoroughly enjoys playing the 1928 four-manual 48-rank Austin pipe organ (Opus 1602) at Saint Mary’s every day for the parish’s Masses, devotional services, and seasonal sacred concerts. Ad Iesum per Mariam—To Jesus through Mary!
