Bernardo Gutierrez is a Research Fellow at the University of Oxford, and a guest researcher and lecturer at Universidad San Francisco de Quito in Ecuador, where he is originally from. His research is focused on understanding the factors that drive the transmission of viruses in humans and animals. From his experience as a scientist, he writes about the parallels between the spread of infectious diseases and the propagation of ideas and behaviours and how to understand this from a spiritual standpoint on his Substack page From the Wilderness. He also enjoys writing about science and faith, scholasticism, and the role of the intellect in the cultivation of a faithful Christian life. He lives in Oxford, UK, with his wife and son.
