Bishop Barron on Jordan Peterson and Sam Harris

by Bishop Robert Barron . January 31, 2019 .

Over the Christmas break, I spent a fair amount of time binge-watching Jordan Peterson videos. Of the many Peterson videos, the ones that intrigued me the most featured his dialogues with Sam Harris, one of the “four horsemen of the new atheism” and perhaps the most strident critic of religion on the scene today.

Following the Star

by Bishop Robert Barron . January 6, 2019 .

Our modern culture suggests a tension between spirituality and religion. But the Magi in today’s Gospel demonstrate that when spirituality is lifted up by revelation—when the Magi are told by the religious leaders where the Messiah is to be born—we find the object of our spiritual longing.

Spinoza, Secularism, and the Challenge of Evangelization

by Bishop Robert Barron . January 3, 2019 .

During this Christmas holiday, I’ve been reading Anthony Gottlieb’s breezy and enjoyable history of modern philosophy, entitled “The Dream of Enlightenment.” I found his chapter on Spinoza extremely clarifying and indeed useful as a foil for what I take to be a properly religious view of things. Answering him point by point is a good exercise for anyone who would aspire to evangelize the culture today.

by Bishop Robert Barron . January 2, 2019 .

Bishop Barron’s Discussion with Dave Rubin and Rabbi Wolpe

by Bishop Robert Barron . December 28, 2018 .

In case you missed it, here is my full conversation with Dave Rubin and Rabbi David Wolpe on “The Rubin Report.” The three of us had a fascinating conversation about how to deal with grief and suffering, what it means to be happy, and why God matters in a secular age.

Escuchando a Jordan Peterson y a Sam Harris

by Bishop Robert Barron . December 26, 2018 .
