Des Moines gets a taste of CATHOLICISM, a faith-based military organization spreads the word, and how to hold a screening for your parish or community today on the Word on Fire blog.
The Fleur Cinema in Des Moines, Iowa, offered a taste of CATHOLICISM last month when over 200 in attendance were treated to a viewing of two episodes of the series.
“The audience burst into applause at the end of the screening,” Tom Quiner, the screening’s organizer, wrote in an e-mail.
The audience, gathered on Sept. 24, was a mix of newcomers to the series, Father Barron faithfuls, high school students receiving extra credit, as well as a local deacon offering a blessing to those in attendance.
The area's Catholic bookstore, Divine Treasures, sold out of copies of CATHOLICISM (and now has a backorder log) following an announcement at the screening of where it could be purchased.
“This is all exciting stuff,” Quiner wrote.
In other news, Catholics Seeking Christ, a faith-based movement among military personnel and the Archdiocese for the Military Services, U.S.A. featured CATHOLICISM in its September newsletter.
“Word on Fire Catholic Ministries offers a vision of the Catholic Faith in its 10 part series, Catholicism. This vision seeks to explore, through a global journey, the living culture of the Catholic Church. The series debuted on PBS on September 22 and is also being shown on EWTN.
