CHICAGO- May 5, 2011: The story of the Catholic Church to be presented on public television this fall.
WTTW, Chicago’s premier public television station, announced that it will premiere and distribute four episodes of Catholicism – a multi-part documentary series for public television – in October 2011 to public television stations nationwide. This epic television production illustrates the history and treasures of a global religion shared by more than one billion people around the world. The series is filmed in stunning high-definition and spans more than 50 locations in 15 countries...
Yesterday evening, Father Barron and the Word on Fire team presented highlights of the
CATHOLICISM series, including the first segment of the comprehensive adult formation program and other supplementary materials, to a group of Bishops at the USCCB Fall General Assembly in Baltimore.
The presentation was well-received, and many of the Bishops present at the reception expressed interest in using
CATHOLICISM as a tool for catechesis and evangelization in their Dioceses. Look for the series and faith formation program at a parish near you next Fall, and please continue to spread the word about Father Barron's unprecedented "new evangelization" project.

The last day of filming for the CATHOLICISM Series took the Word on Fire crew to churches in and around the Chicago area. Following this final day on set, Father Steve took a moment to reflect on three of those churches, as well as the entire experience of producing CATHOLICISM.

Yesterday, Father Barron and the Word on Fire crew filmed segments for the CATHOLICISM series at churches in the city of Chicago. This was last time that filming for the series would include stand ups with Father Barron- a sign to all of us that the production of this series is coming to its conclusion. The filming of the CATHOLICISM series has been quite an adventure. Father Barron and the Word on Fire team have traveled all over the world, taking in some of the most extraordinary expressions of Catholic culture. We went to these places not simply as tourists, but as pilgrims, seeking the Lord’s presence in these experiences. He found us, as he always does, and manifested himself to us in ways that kept us at times standing at attention and at other times brought us to our knees...
