Des Moines gets a taste of CATHOLICISM, a faith-based military organization spreads the word, and how to hold a screening for your parish or community, today on the Word on Fire blog.
The Fleur Cinema in Des Moines, Iowa offered a taste of CATHOLICISM last month when over 200 in attendance were treated to a viewing of two episodes of the series.
“The audience burst into applause at the end of the screening,” Tom Quiner, the screening’s organizer, wrote in an e-mail.
The audience, gathered on Sept. 24, was a mix of newcomers to the series, Father Barron faithfuls, high school students receiving extra credit, as well as a local deacon offering a blessing to those in attendance.
The area's Catholic bookstore, Divine Treasures, sold out of copies of CATHOLICISM (and now has a backorder log) following an announcement at the screening of where it could be purchased.
“This is all exciting stuff,” Quiner wrote.

After one more day of filming in Chicago, the footage for the
CATHOLICISM series will be complete! Father Barron and the team are in the final stages of editing and compiling each episode and formulating a comprehensive study program (as well as a multitude of other offerings) to accompany the 10-part series. The entire series, as well as the supplemental materials, will be available in the Fall of 2011.
Stay tuned for more news on this epic cinematic and spiritual experience, including news about national and international programming on mainstream television networks!...
