That makes so much sense!! The reason that I love my wife and that she loves me is really only because we both love Jesus Christ and want to serve Him and worship Him together.
If we did not have that love for the Lord we would not really make it. For the kids we would try but even that would not be enough..It has to be Jesus and His Church. It has to be the Apostolate that He has given us both and which we do together every day of our lives.
2nd Corinthians Chapter 6 verse
[14] Bear not the yoke with unbelievers. For what participation hath justice with injustice? Or what fellowship hath light with darkness? [15] And what concord hath Christ with Belial? Or what part hath the faithful with the unbeliever?
Those Bible verses put it well!
Thanks Father Bob for making this point so clear!!!
Great!!!

How very true, Fr. Barron! Finding my husband took a long search- requiring much patience and prayer, but it was worth it to meet someone who also held that God should be at the center of our relationship. While we were engaged, we read together Sheen's book that you mentioned and found it amazingly insightful; we would recommend it to anyone. And as a married woman now, having our relationship be bigger than just the two of us is such a comfort, such a joy, and a tremendous help. Additionally, my past heartaches in searching seem as nothing- a minor inconvenience. I sought Him first, I found, and I give Him praise!

Great comments, Fr. Barron! John Paul II's Theology of the Body resonates with your idea that we are to love God - the transcendent Third - as we love one another in families and live in the image of "God is Love".

Yes! This principle brought Leo and me together 35 years ago and has guided us through many rough spots. We refer to it every day. We need it!

somehow, i knew this existed and have unknowingly searched for it my entire life.
And, one day it happened. You have affirmed this for me.
God doesn't think like us, does He.

Just so simple and beautiful. So true. A friend asked me why do people have to get married in the church. Isnt god everywhere ? I do not think I have been articulate enough in explaining it to her. But this video is a start. Thank you so much. She is my dearest friend and we have recently had discussions on marriage abortion and religion. Thank you father.

This is beautiful, profound, and challenging. I hope someday that our Church will openly recognize that same sex couple have this same calling and wish to be unified before God and the Church. Someday the Spirit will move the hearts of those at the top.

Where in Aristotle can I find Father's reference?
I am writing a research paper on Aristotle's treatment of Friendship, and this would be great material for it!
Thank you and God bless!
