A real Classic. I have listened to this over and over. Prayer does not change the mind of God BUT changes me. I cannot manipulate God instead I must try and get into HIS Groove as He already knows best. I should know these things and so should you but we have to be continually reminded and that is where we all need to be so thankful to these deep and yet simple reflections by Father Bob.
The heart of Jesus' teaching is forgiveness. So True.. Every disagreement and fight I have ever had was because I would not forgive and/or the other person would not forgive. Just imagine if let's say the Palestinians would forgive the Jews for grabbing their lands so unjustly. It would look like a walk over for the Jews and it would be especially when one leaves God out of the equation. Think what God would do in such a case for the Palestinian cause in terms of eternity. Our vision is limited by what we think is just and unjust. But His ways are so much higher than our ways as the Heavens are higher than the earth Isaiah Ch 55 v 8 and 9.
Without continual reminders from anointed men of God like Father Bob, where would we be? Where would I be? This is rather long, sorry! But please listen and re listen and then pass this info on. It is world changing stuff.
Beginning with my little world of me and the ones I affect around me.

I received this from Heidi on my mailing list....It's a good point, as it seems that Moses was the one who changed God's mind and so did Mary at the wedding supper at Cana... I thought about this too but the point I received was that God wanted Moses and Mary and all of us when we pray, to pray along the right lines.. It was right for Moses to ask for Mercy and it was right for Mary to take no notice of Christ's apparent disinterest. It was much more a Test for Mary and Moses and was no test for God.
Hope that makes sense as it does to me .. God bless you Heide...
Peace and God Love you!!!
What do you think Father??????

I believe God has changed his mind by petitions from his people: Moses pleaded with God and here is the result in Exo 32:14, "Then the Lord changed His mind and did not bring on his people the disaster he had threatened."
As in the earlier post ... Mary also sought intervention and although Jesus said it wasn't time, he honored her and helped presumably because of his relationship with her and compassion for her.
Even Lot negotiated with God. In the end he couldnt find any good in the city but God allowed him to try. Did God know the end result? Sure.
What I gather from these instances is how God is relational and wants to know us and wants us to know HIM! He listens to our prayers and pleadings. He may not answer our prayers int he way WE want or in OUR time, but they matter and are heard and God responds.
Much like a parent - just because our children want 100 dollars and a sports car and no curfew doesn't mean they will get it. And we still love them in our NO to them, in fact it is BECAUSE of our love that we say no - even if they plead. Isn't God the same way in that respect Father? Or do I have this wrong?
I love the way Father Barron spoke about forgivness! Its so liberating and yet so difficult to forgive isnt it? It is for me so many times. Thank you so much for your insight and wisdom and faithfulness! It blesses my life and those around me.

Will you please publish this in pamphlet form? This is the fifth revisit and each time I find it a wellspring of spiritual enlightenment. To have a tangible book to take with me to Eucharistic Adoration would be so good. Blessings.
