Excellent point re requiring deeper religious study by high school students. However, I don't think we have the high school teachers who are qualified to teach these (Aquinas, Augustine, Chesterton, et al.)

Dear William, I must disagree with you. There are plenty of wonderful Universities like TAC, FUS, UD, Ave Maria, etc. that are turning out a wonderful new generation of very well read and orthodox theology teachers.

Thanks so much for the reply. This gives me great hope! I hope these teachers hurry to Augusta, Georgia, where I live. Hardly any Catholic "here" has ever read Merton, Thoreau, St. Therese, Tolstoy, Dante, Lewis et al. Most priests "here" are wonderful human beings but are very reluctant to form discussion groups on theology or classical literature. I have for some years been a member of a Presbyterian community's book club where we have read much Flannery O'Connor, Percy, Dostoevsky, etc..... but I am only Catholic interested in it! No Catholics presently in this town, including me, would be qualified to teach anything beyond "dumbed down Catholicism".

I have to start with that comic book. Did he say where in Chicago we could get one?
Shalom!

As a Catholic highschool student, I personally testify that everything Father said about the Catholic education system in highschool is absolutely correct. The poorly written "comic books" of religion textbooks have frustrated me too. Ive had to resort to self teaching myself about Catholocism! I plan to write a letter to my school with a link to this video.
