Father Barron on "No Country for Old Men" (SPOILERS)

Although it is overshadowed with evil, No Country for Old Men presents a possibility akin to biblical hope.

The fireside dream was confusing to me. Was this a premonition of Hell? When the light source is unknown or appears to come from out of no where it resembles truth. The best opportunity for hope is found when the wife of the cowboy refuses to accept that life is just a chance and a coin toss.

“The coin don’t have no say, it’s just you!”

Perplexed by this reaction, Chigurh tries to claim that he is there by chance.

It’s a classic I Believe vs. I refuse to serve.

Everyone else in this movie when confronted by Chigurh’s evil temptations fails except Carla Jean who refuses to sin in the face of great evil. And I believe it was no accident, by chance, that Chigurh is T-Boned in an awful car accident in the next scene! LOL

Excellent review. I did enjoy this movie but was troubled that I found no redeeming value. Evil seemed to triumph. Glad I found this clip. You brought some light to darkness.

Your Catholicism series is excellent btw. Just bought it two weeks ago. That's how I stumbled upon this site.
